Hinata Hyuga x M!Reader Ch.3

*Dreaming*
You were strapped to a table with your arms and legs stretched out and tied down. Your eyes were being held open so you couldn’t even blink.

Orochimaru: I know this can’t be very comfortable (Y/n), but soon you will be so much more than you are now.

Your father’s laughter echoed in the operating room as Kabuto walked over and picked up one of the tools then held it against your chest.

The cold blade sent a chill through you and you clutched your hands shut.

Kabuto: Ready to start lord Orochimaru.

(Y/n): W-wait…You didn’t give me anything for the pain yet!

You screamed as you scratched the steel table as Kabuto traced the surgical tool over you.

Your father walked over with a smile and his yellow eyes narrowing on you. He raised his hand up to your head and brushed some your (H/l/c) hair off of your face.

Orochimaru: My dear boy, how can you hope to become stronger if you don’t experience any pain?

He hummed as he stepped away and let Kabuto work.

You screamed at the top of your lungs as his tools cut into you and his hands moved around inside of you. It didn’t matter how much you tried to move from the pain, the restraints holding you down were strong enough to keep you perfectly still as to not interrupt the operation.

He removed every unnecessary organ from inside you, shortened the length of your stomach and injected you muscles with his and your father’s custom drugs to insure they grew to the best they could and became perfectly toned.

The worst was when you’d look to Orochimaru to save you, but he just observed. His interest outweighed his concern so he only ever moved to get a better view of what was being done to you.

Each of the openings Kabuto made were expertly closed and then when you finally thought it was over he moved up to your head.

Kabuto: Lord Orochimaru, are you sure about this? Many of the previous test subjects died while the others quickly lost their eyesight and grew very sick after the fusion.

Orochimaru: Hrm, we haven’t seen any improvements in months. It’s time we put all of our preparation to use.

He nodded as he passed his pale hand over your hair again, expressing his expectations for you.

Kabuto nodded and slowly lowered the tool into your eye.

*Awake*

You woke up screaming and quickly put your hand over your left eye as you sat up from the sudden fright.

(Y/n): You were really scary sometimes dad…where are you damn it?

You sighed and fell back down on the bed with your arms out to your sides. Even a terrible memory like that one was still a memory of Orochimaru and you were suddenly flooded with a feeling of loneliness as your new life set back into your mind.

You looked out the window next to your bed and stared at the moon.

The hideouts were always underground so this was the first time your room had a view. It was hard to go back to sleep with something so new spread out next to you.

So many thoughts were racing in your head making it impossible to simply go back to sleep, but then you felt a familiar tug on your leg and saw Yang had slithered out of her cage and had curled herself around it.

(Y/n): Can’t sleep either?

You raised your leg up and she stretched her head out a bit and flicked her tongue at you.

(Y/n): Heh, what am I saying? You sleep all the time under my clothes.

You smiled at the white snake and lowered your leg back down on the bed.

You kept starring at the sky outside until you dozed off again.

In the morning you met Naruto as you both left your apartments together and he walked over to greet you.

Naruto: Good morning (Y/n)! Are you ready for our first mission?!

It might have been his first mission, but you had lost count of how many you had done up until now.

His excitement reminded you of how eager you were when your dad had trusted you to go off on your first solo mission.

You ran around his legs a dozen times as you went over your mission, your plan and even how your entrance was going to be like when you got back.

Naruto: Hey (Y/n), you’re bringing Yang with you right?  She was a big help in getting the bells so she’s a part of Team 7 too.

It was really nice to see everyone you met be so welcoming towards Yang. Your dad and Kabuto usually brushed her off as being no different than your clothes and didn’t care much for her.

Although when you were hurt and had to spend days in bed your dad always fed her for you so there must have been at least a small part of him that cared about Yang since she was so important to you.

(Y/n): She’s right here.

You pulled up the overlong sleeve of your left arm and Naruto saw the black scales on her back.

Naruto: Awesome! Are teams going to be the best, believe it!

You nodded and then you both ran off to meet your team.

The first mission you got was very different from what you were used to. All your squad needed to do was catch a cat that had run away from its owner.

A part of you felt insulted while another felt a bit relieved. There was a strange comfort in doing something simple.

Your squad had tracked the small creature into a park as it ran from an ally near the markets of the village. Even while capturing a lost pet your teammates showed a surprising level of profession. Each of you stuck to stealth as you tried to get close enough to capture the lost pet, but when it noticed your team was near, it tried to run off again, but Naruto was able to catch it.

He held onto it a bit roughly and it ended up scratching his face and escaping.

For some reason it ran to you and even climbed up your leg up to your shoulder. You were surprised so you barely moved, but a certain white snake didn’t like having a new animal around her comfort zone and quickly started trying to chase the cat away. In the end the two kept fighting around your head until one of your teammates came over and took the cat away.

Sakura: (Y/n) you need to control Yang better. What if she had hurt our clients pet?

(Y/n): I’m fine, thanks for asking…and don’t worry. Yang wouldn’t have hurt it, she just got scared that another animal came over to me so suddenly.

Naruto: Man what the hell is up with this lame mission?! We’re ninjas not an animal rescue!

Kakashi: Well, we found who we were looking for so let’s head back and get our next assignment.

He sighed deeply at seeing the new squad still having some rough edges to smooth over.

The mission ended when you got back to the Academy and returned the cat to its owner who immediately started smothering the poor thing and then payed for your service. This made Naruto laugh as he wanted revenge for the cat scratching his face earlier.

With the mission complete, Naruto requested a more challenging one, but Iruka turned him down saying he wasn’t qualified for anything more than a D rank mission. You didn’t mind taking things easy for a while until you got a better understanding of how to live in the Hidden Leaf.

You were fine with getting either another low ranked mission or something more advanced. Since you didn’t really care for whatever happened you just stood next to Kakashi and Sasuke while playing with Yang as she slithered down your left hand and passed between your fingers.

The Hokage glanced over to you and saw how happy you looked and decided to test your team to see how you would all do.

Hokage: All right Naruto. Kakashi, we’ll be giving your squad a C rank mission next. Do you think they’re ready?

He looked to his four students and then nodded slightly to the Hokage.

Hokage: Very well. Bring in our guest.

He ordered one of the people at the back of the room and you turned to see an old man enter through the door. Your (E/c) eyes narrowed as you analyzed him. You read him in an instant and you were disappointed to see there was nothing special about him.

Since you didn’t interact with many people up until now, your expressions were always honest and now your face showed how annoyed you were.

Hokage: This is Tazuna and you will be escorting him back to his village in the Land of Waves.

Your head tilted a bit at hearing you would be going outside the village. Traveling for a mission made you smile as it was familiar.

Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura greeted the old man, but Naruto was as disappointed as you were except he was loud about it.

Naruto: What! Now we have to protect some old man?! That doesn’t sound exciting at all!

You grinned as you silently agreed with him.

Tazuna: Ha! This short stack is supposed to protect me? I’d be better off on my own.

The old man took a drink from his bottle as Naruto started screaming in anger at him.

Naruto: Who are you calling short?!

You and your other teammates took a step closer to Naruto to show him that he was the shortest of you as you were the same height as Sasuke.

The blonde growled and was about to run at the old man, but Kakashi hit him down in an instant and apologized for Naruto’s behavior.

Your eyes shifted back to the old man and his eyes met yours.

Tazuna: The short one is annoying and the one with the snake has a really nasty look in his eyes. Can’t you leave them behind?

You smiled at him with your eyes closed and moved your arm down so Yang would know to go back up your into your kimono.

You slid your foot forward a bit and in a second you had crossed the room and were in the air behind the old man.

When your feet touched the ground you kicked his leg to drop him to his knees and then held his neck in your arm as if you were going to choke him before pointing a kunai at him with your other hand.

(Y/n): You’re the one with a ‘nasty’ tongue. Should I cut it out for you?

Everyone in the room was frozen. You were fast enough to cross the room without them even noticing and then you were showing your similarity with Orochimaru.

Kakashi: (Y/n), that’s enough.

Your teacher had appeared next to you and his hand on your shoulder to try and calm you down.

Kakashi: We don’t threaten our clients. Remember, you’re a part of the Hidden Leaf now.

You looked around and saw the reactions on everyone’s faces. You didn’t like what you were seeing so you stopped and let go of Tazuna. You put your knife away as you walked away and Kakashi helped him up.

Kakashi: All right team, we’ll be leaving in an hour so go pack for the trip.

The four of you left and you stopped by your apartment to grab a few things you thought you might need to help you on your mission.

You were the last one to join your team at the gates since there were a few things you had to get that you didn’t have at home before leaving.

Kakashi: (Y/n) wait a minute, there’s something I want to give you.

You tilted your head curiously as he reached into one of his pouches.

Kakashi: Here you go. You’re officially a ninja of the Hidden Leaf.

He held out a meatal headband for you.

This felt different than the other headbands you had gotten before. It wasn’t a trophy, but a gift.

(Y/n): T-thank you.

You were surprisingly happy as you tied it around your forehead.

Naruto: Hehe, looking good (Y/n)!

He gave you a thumbs up and smiled.

You weren’t as expressive so your smile was much calmer and you barley lifted your hand up to give him a thumbs up in return.    

After leaving the gates you walked at the front of the group with Naruto as Sasuke and Sakura walked by Tazuna and Kakashi brought up the rear of your formation.

As you walked along the path Naruto asked about what Tazuna did and he explained that he was a bridge builder for his island.

Naruto: Hey (Y/n), Kakashi said that you did a lot of missions for your dad before you came to the village. Have you ever protected anyone like this before?

Everyone looked over to you with interest, especially Sasuke and Kakashi.

(Y/n): No. I’ve never had to protect anyone before. My dad used to say “Those that fall behind, stay behind.” so I was alone on my missions. He made sure I never had to look after any living person.

You said in a cold voice.

Orochimaru’s words held a cruel truth as it was exactly what had happened to you.

Sasuke: Why did you say that last part about it being a ‘living’ person?

(Y/n): Sometimes I was asked to look after a corpse for my dad or his assistant.

You had to be careful when talking about your past since Kakashi and the Hokage both told you not to mention any names or details from your time with your dad except with them.

Naruto, Sakura and Tazuna all cringed at the morbid assignment you were given.

Naruto: T-that’s kind of scary.

His voice was shaking as he spoke, but you didn’t notice the terrified face he had on since you noticed something strange on the side of the road.

A small puddle of water. It was a clear day and it hadn’t rained since you had been out of your cell.

(Looks like this trip is more than what this old man said it was.) You thought to yourself as you realized there were enemy ninjas following you.

You looked over your shoulder and saw that only Kakashi had noticed the trap that you were all walking into. Since he didn’t say anything you thought you should stay quiet as well.

After you had all past it, two ninjas jumped out from the water and quickly trapped Kakashi in their blade-chain. Before any of you could react you saw Kakashi be ripped to pieces. You were used to seeing people die in gruesome ways like this so you didn’t react as the others did.

With Kakashi dead the two ninjas charged at Naruto, but instead of reacting and defending himself, he froze up.

Luckily Sasuke was able to save him. He quickly trapped the long chain the two were using together and then attacked them with a swift kick after landing on their gauntlets.

The two then detached the chain and one ran towards Naruto while the other charged at Tazuna.

Sakura went to protect the old man and you pushed Naruto out of the way before it was too late. However when you went to defend him, you were both scratched by the sharp gauntlet. The enemy didn’t slow down to fight you, but instead kept running towards Sakura and Tazuna, he was their target.

Your greatest weakness while fighting was your age. Every time you got hurt because you were careless always made you lose your temper so after being scratched and left bleeding you were set to fight.

You ran after the enemy and were able to move in front of him. You struck your palm out to strike him, but he backed away from your range.

(Striking Shadow Snakes!) Five large snakes flew out from inside the sleeve of your black kimono and grabbed on to the ninja in front of you.

One of the heads bit his armored hand and stretched it out so he couldn’t break free. The other snakes wrapped around him tightly and then you closed your open palm into a closed fist as you controlled the snakes and crushed the ninja until his body was hanging lifelessly from the bundle of snakes.

You tossed the corpse to the side and were ready to fight the other one, but saw Kakashi standing in front of you, alive and with the other ninja beaten.

They were all stunned at seeing you go so far as to kill one of the ninjas, but since the situation was understandable none of them said anything. Even with the silence you could tell that Sakura was the one most effected as she ran to Sasuke and was noticeably trying to avoid looking at you.

While Kakashi was tying up the one he captured, you went over to the corpse and pulled out a thin black book from your back pouch.

Naruto: W-what’s that?

He asked as you lowered the dead man’s mask to see his face.

(Y/n): A Bingo Book, I’m seeing if this corpse is worth anything.

Sasuke: How and why do you have a Bingo Book with you?

You looked over at him annoyed that you had to explain what you were doing.

(Y/n): It’s not hard to get one, as long as you know where to shop and I have it so that I can make the most out of the people I kill. Heh and this is one of the “Demon Brothers” a rouge ninja from the Hidden Mist. There’s a bounty of 2,000 on each of them.

You smiled as you read off the report.  

Naruto: S-so…y-you’ve hunted people down before?

(Y/n): Only when my dad told me we needed money for new equipment for his experiments or for a new hideout.

You pulled off the metal headband off from the body and stood up to call out to Kakashi.

(Y/n): Hey Kakashi, this guy has a bounty on him. Can you put it in your report when you go back home so I can get the money?

Kakashi stared at you for a moment, unsure how to answer.

Kakashi: Fine, but the village will be getting a cut since you killed him during a mission.

(Y/n): Fine, just don’t steal all my money. Are you done over there?

You sighed as you started walking over to him, Sakura and Tazuna with the other ninja tied up behind them.

Kakashi: Yes. You three be on alert. This mission is more than we thought it was.

He glared at Tazuna before the old man started walking with Sakura.

Your team reformed the escort formation around Tazuna, but you walked over to the captured ninja before joining them.

In a quick motion you took out your kunai and slit his throat.

(Y/n): All right, I have two Hidden Mist headbands to kick off my new collection!

You cheered happily as you removed the one from his head and held one of the headbands in each hand.

You had worked really hard to build up your last collection, but after the raid on your dad’s hideout it was all taken in as ‘evidence’.

Now that you saw there was a chance to build it up again you couldn’t hide how happy you were. Although you were still a bit sad since you probably wouldn’t be able to collect anymore Leaf headbands without getting into trouble.

Kakashi: What do you think you’re doing?

He grabbed your arm as you were about to put the headbands away.

(Y/n): I killed them so these are mine. You can’t have them.

You said bluntly with and looking innocent as you pouted up at him.

Kakashi: I want to know why you killed him.

(Y/n): You said you were done with him and we were about to leave anyway. Why did we need to leave him alive?

Sakura: But he was tied up…he was defenseless how could you just kill him like that?!

(Y/n): Having him tied up just made it easier.

You smiled proudly as you pointed out her answer.

Seeing how detached and cold you sounded, Kakashi let go of your arm and decided to simply keep walking on.

As he followed behind your team, Kakashi kept his eye on you more than he did on anyone else.

He was the only one who knew where you came from so him being surprised at what you had done made no sense to you. The only reason you could think of was that he wasn’t expecting you to be strong enough to take on ninja that were so much stronger than you with barely any effort.

The others were keeping their distance as well, mainly Sakura and the old man. Sasuke watched you as if he was getting ready for a fight. You weren’t about to fight him, but the way he kept glaring at the back of your head was starting to annoy you.

Naruto, who was walking next to you kept shifting his eyes from the road to you. He wasn’t afraid like Sakura was, but he was uncertain how to approach you after seeing you like that.

The boat ride to the Land of Wave was silent until you reached the half-complete bridge Tazuna had been working on.

Kakashi took advantage of the silence and asked why what was meant to be a simple C ranked mission was so dangerous.

Tazuna explained how the bridge had made him a target for assassins hired by the man who had taken over his country and made it so poor.

The others quickly gave in to sympathy and decided to help him while you remained quiet. You had upset everyone just a while ago and thought you should wait before you could speak freely again.

When the boat docked you followed the directions Tazuna had given you to his home and started walking.

Naruto was acting strangely as he wanted to prove he wasn’t going to lose to either you or Sasuke. He even threw a kunai knife at a tree to show he had sensed an enemy.

When Sakura went over to get it back for him she told him that he nearly killed a rabbit by accident.

(Y/n): If you’re trying to kill small animals Naruto, would you mind killing a mouse so I can feed Yang?

You asked bluntly trying to take advantage of his service.

Naruto: This was an accident! I thought there was an enemy hiding over here.

Sasuke: You’re such a loser. Are you that desperate to show off that you just throw knives at anything that moves?

Naruto: Shut up! I’m telling you, there was someone here!

Suddenly Kakashi pushed Sasuke back and grabbed your head to push you down.

Kakashi: Get down now!

You then saw a giant blade fly over you, if Kakashi hadn’t taken you down when he did, you would have died or at best been severely injured.

The blade stuck to a tree and then a man landed on the handle.

Kakashi: That sword is famous among shinobi, so you’re the one hired to kill Tazuna…Zabuza Momochi!

Zabuza: Kakashi Hatake of the Sharingan, the copy ninja. This will be fun after all.

He jumped off his sword and grabbed the hilt then kicked off the tree and flew towards you.

Kakashi: All of you protect Tazuna now!

You followed the others and took your place in front of the old man ready to fight.

Zabuza: Let me show you why I’m called the demon of the mist.

He formed hand signs for his Jutsu and a mist rose up from the water and covered the area.

Kakashi quickly released his own chakra to clear away some of the mist around you. He then lifted up his headband from his face and revealed his other eye. A red iris with black markings.

(The Sharingan?) You recognized it instantly as one of the few things Orochimaru obsessed over during his experiments.

As you saw Kakashi ready himself to fight, you could tell that this wasn’t going to be like the two you had killed before.

(What am I doing?!) You thought to yourself as you realized what you had done.

(I can’t stand here. If I do then that man will kill me in an instant. I have to move. I have to hide.) Your thoughts became a mess as you tried to think of what to do.

You looked to your side and saw that Sasuke was having just as much trouble as you were with the intense atmosphere Kakashi and Zabuza had created.

Kakashi: (Y/n)! Sasuke! I will protect you all with my life so don’t worry. Just stay behind me!

You saw how serious he was. His priority wasn’t simply defeating Zabuza, but protecting you and the others.

The concept of someone protecting you never crossed your mind with Orochimaru’s conditioning. His words of ‘being left behind’ was a code that he had drilled into you since you were little.

Hearing Kakashi say he would protect you made you feel strange.

Zabuza: How touching.

The voice came from behind you as he suddenly appeared between you and the old man.

You were still weak from the fear before and fell back, but Kakashi was able to stab Zabuza with his kunai before he moved.

Zabuza’s body started leaking water and then fell apart as a Water Clone.

He appeared behind Kakashi and swung his sword clean through him, but Kakashi was using a Clone as well and now the real Kakashi had his knife to Zabuza’s neck.

They had both tricked the other and now even this Zabuza was a Clone so the real one could come down from above with his sword.

Without any more Clones, Kakashi was kicked into the water and fell into Zabuza’s trap.

With another set of hand signs he trapped Kakashi in the thick water of his Water Prison justu.

Any chance you had of escaping was closed off now that Kakashi was captured and Zabuza’s power had all of you shaking in fear. He summoned another Water Clone and had it go towards his target while he kept Kakashi locked in place.

The first one who broke free from his fear was Naruto. He charged the masked ninja with a group of his Shadow Clones.

It was worth the try, but the Water Clone was as strong the original and easily knocked all of the clones away.

Naruto: Is that all you got?! Sasuke, catch!

As he flew through the air Naruto was able to toss a large closed weapon down to Sasuke.

Having his name called out woke him up and he grabbed the weapon, spinning in place to balance himself.

Sasuke: Demon Wind Shuriken, Windmill of Shadows! Not bad Naruto.

He grinned as he opened the four blades.

Sasuke jumped into the air and tossed the giant shuriken.

He aimed it perfectly to bypass the Water Clone and sent it straight to Zabuza’s real body.

Just as the shuriken was within his reach, Zabuza grabbed it out of the air.

You hopes seemed dashed, but just as his arm was about to rest another shuriken appeared out of the shadow of the first.

With one hand holding the first shuriken and his other still holding Kakashi in place left him with only one option to avoid the attack. He jumped off the water’s surface, letting the shuriken fly under him.

When the shuriken had flown a bit further out, it burst into a cloud of smoke and Naruto appeared in its place. Now facing Zabuza’s back he threw a kunai knife for a third attack.

The knife was aimed to high for him to dodge like before and too much towards his center to simply lean away from. Zabuza’s only way of saving himself was to catch it with the hand that was keeping Kakashi in his Water Prison.

Your mouth gaped open as you watched their teamwork, without saying a word they were able to work so well together. It was simply amazing.

Seeing them do something so incredible was just what you needed to be able to stand up again and ready to face Zabuza.

With Kakashi now freed you saw his true power as he didn’t simply copy Zabuza with his Sharingan, but perfectly mirrored his hand signs as the simultaneously used the Water Dragon jutsu.

Their Jutsus canceled each other out and they were left in a hand to hand fight until Zabuza tried to use another Jutsu, but Kakashi was able to finish before him by reading Zabuza’s movements down to the slightest motion and cast the Water Vortex jutsu.

The flooding waters swept Zabuza away and slammed him into a tree where Kakashi pinned him with several Kunai knives and shuriken.

Before Kakashi could do anything else a set of needles stabbed Zabuza’s neck, killing him.

You looked up and saw a masked boy who was around your age standing on one of the trees.

Kakashi: That mask…you’re from the Hidden Mist.

???: I am. I have been after Zabuza, thank you for all your work, but now I must take his body with me.

You took a step forward, ready to stop him until Kakashi held his hand out.

Kakashi: If he’s from the Hidden Mist then let him take the body and dispose of it.

The boy nodded and jumped down to pick up Zabuza’s body. With another Mist jutsu used to hide himself the boy disappeared.

As everyone started praising Kakashi, he soon fell over from exhaustion.

You all rushed over to him to help him. You and Sasuke held him over your shoulders and started following Tazuna to his home.

As you walked with Kakashi on your back, you couldn’t help but feel strange again.

You were worried about him, but at the same time happy that everyone was ok.

The only time you felt this way was whenever you saw Orochimaru fight someone.

You didn’t know how to describe it, but now you wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe until you were all back home in the Hidden Leaf.
